Why Does Jim Wallace Have The Name "Dr. Penguin"?

In 1962-3, While Working For The University Of Texas Schellenger Research Labs, He Was Sent To ANTARCTICA To Conduct High Altitude Weather Research By Launching ARCUS Rockets With Weather Radio-Sonde Instruments .

While In The South Pole Region At The Bottom Of The World, He Made Friends With The Penguins That Has Lasted Since.

He Later  Earned A Ph.D Degree, So It Became  "A Natural"  Nick Name .

Below Are A Few Of His Most Favorite Pictures Made While In Antarctica....Please Note That The Quality May be A Little Short On Some, Depending On Which Camera Of Several Was Used At That Time.  These Photos Are Also Over 40 Years Old....

This Is Also Where His True Interest In Photography Began.

Enjoy !
